Located in the heart of beautiful Minneapolis, Minnesota, we’re an organization dedicated to the creation of custom tailored suits and shirts. In an atmosphere of a 1901 turn of the century home we ply our trade. Since 1976, a strong service ethic and an imaginative staff of loyal and dedicated tailors, combined with energy and panache, have kept Top Shelf one of the most respected sellers of custom clothing in America. We provide three primary functions to our clients: Education, Consultation, and Professional Services. We work exclusively by appointment, usually one to two hours.
Though our local headquarters are relatively small, we have global affiliations with fine tailoring workshops in the United States, Canada and China. We specialize in suits made with full canvas construction, and offer both traditional and ultra light construction based on the needs of our clients. The majority of our custom shirts are built with non-fused collars and cuffs (no glue inside) , allowing us to warranty that they will fit comfortably until they are ready to be retired.
Our library of fine fabrics spans the globe with the majority of our fabric coming from the finest mills of Italy and England.
We work with Cloth by Ermenegildo Zegna, Loro Piana, Vitale Barberis, Holland and Sherry, Scabal, Tallia di Delfino, and many others. Our custom shirtings also span the globe, with the mills of Albini, Thomas Mason, Testa, Soktas and others that allow for a depth of selection no ready made company can compare to.
